The Suite Life - December 2022
Before we don our Santa hats and crack open the bubbly, we’re taking a moment to reflect on a very successful year. None of us knew what 2022 would bring but despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic, there’s been plenty to celebrate across every part of the business. So here’s our 2022, all wrapped up in a neat bow:
16 x books, podcasts & TV shows
88 x keynotes and events delivered
14 x new ambassador partnerships
43 x brand campaigns
194 x content pieces created
16 x Academy graduates
As we head into December we’re thrilled that rally driver and glass-ceiling-smasher Molly Taylor is back in the Extreme E paddock team after signing with her new team Veloce Racing; and our creative team is still buzzing after a very successful campaign for Head to Health, a nationwide mental-health service. You can find out more about both these announcements below.
Thank you for all your support this year. The TLS offices will close on Friday December 23 and will reopen on Monday January 9. I’m wishing you all the best for the holiday season and look forward to working with you again in 2023.
Best wishes,
Sim
Molly Taylor just keeps blowing us away with her achievements – and she won’t be slowing down in the new year, either. The Aussie rally driver, who reigned supreme taking home the championship in the first-ever Extreme E race series in 2021, has now joined the Veloce Racing team. Along with Kevin Hansen, she’ll be challenging for the 2023 Extreme E title. The pair, who qualified fastest for the 2022 series’ final race in Uruguay last week, are set to be a formidable force on the track.
Extreme E is a game-changing off-road event where competitors (equal teams of male and female drivers) race electric vehicles in remote parts of the world, aiming to draw attention to climate change and gender equality challenges.
“I believe wholeheartedly in what the competition represents, both with respect to its commitment to sustainability and to gender equality,” Molly says. “We are setting our targets high and I’m looking forward to being back in the action.”
Next up though, you can catch Molly taking on her second attempt in the gruelling Dakar rally (to air on SBS) from 1st- 15th January 2023.
Given the rates of poor mental health in Australia, we’re very proud to have partnered with Head to Health, a federal government initiative for people needing a bit of extra support. On our most recent campaign with the team, we enlisted Dr Preeya Alexander, Molly Taylor, Ellie Cole and Michael and Carlene Duffy to share their own stories about mental wellbeing and encourage people to contact the free Head to Health hotline for support. They created some very impactful videos, which you can catch on their Instagram channels. If you’re finding life a little more challenging at the moment, you can access more than 500 digital resources at headtohealth.gov.au or call the Head to Health hotline on 1800 595 212.
Heading into its fourth year in 2023, The Academy continues to raise the bar for emerging leaders in health, lifestyle, science and sport. And thanks to the continuing popularity of digital education and the rise of health literacy across the Australian population, our talent development program has never been more needed in the public realm and our Academy graduates never more in demand.
If you're looking to build your profile in media and capitalise on the myriad opportunities that are out there, then our program could be right up your alley.
Applications for the next intake of The Academy are now open. You can learn more about the program here or submit your application here.
On a less serious note, Christmas parties are back in full swing this year. To navigate the party season without sacrificing your health, you might like to soak up GP Dr Ginni Mansberg’s party season tips here.
